Posted by admin on Monday, November 10 @ 01:11:46 EST (8 reads)

Disc golf is the fastest growing sport in the United States and courses have been constructed in the nearby communites of Effingham, Vandalia and St. Elmo. There are a number of Altamont residents who are avid Disc Golf fans that play on a regular basis. The Altamont High School phyical education department is also looking at including it in their curriculum.
Disc Golf is a sport that offers low impact exercise and fun for old and young alike. The basic idea is to throw a disc (Frisbee) from a tee area and land it in a upright chain / basket hole down course in as few throws as possible. The Proposed Disc Golf Course in Altamont
The course has been laid out by Mark Drone (Regional Sup. of Schools and EDGE member) and is just waiting for funds for the baskets and the tees. PSA Archive: The Barber's Diaries
Posted by admin on Sunday, October 05 @ 22:13:25 EDT (60 reads)
The Barber's Diaries is a new cinema television documentary and book project, based on a true story. The documentary follows the life of Charles Ellis, who was a black barber here in Altamont around the turn of the century (1900 that is - not 2000)
The made-for-television documentary and motion picture project - The Barber's Diaries - is moving forward at increasing speed. Director and screenwriter Kevin Willmott ("CSA: Confederate States of America" and "Bunker Hill") has joined the project. Emmy Award winning journalist and writer David Henderson is involved along with Outpost Worldwide, the production company.
The Barber's Diaries is the true story of Charles Ellis, a black barber who secretly expressed his thoughts, philosophy, theology and world view throughout an era of dynamic racial change in America, 1920's through the civil rights movement.
The story is copyright 2008 Outpost Worldwide - www.outpostworldwide.net. View a YouTube Video about the project at www.youtube.com/watch?v=u45vog5mtsg

Announcement: If you do not want to your business to grow - don’t read this.
Posted by admin on Friday, June 13 @ 12:01:52 EDT (123 reads)
E- Commerce: What is it? - It is the buzzword of the century.
Broadly defined: E-commerce is a modern business idea that addresses the needs of merchants and consumers to cut costs while improving the quality of goods and services.
The cutting edge for business today is E-Commerce. The concept of e-commerce is all about using the internet to do business better and faster. It is giving customers access to your products and services and committing your company to a serious online effort. If you do that, you will see results.
Every generation of business has new strategies andnew ways of doing business. Think of radio and television… the first mass market advertising. Now the internet has radically changed business and the way we look at selling or advertising our products. It has expanded over the last 5 years and growth is forecasted to accelerate. It is very likely that in the future conventional and internet business will become equal. E-commerce is one of the cheapest ways of doing business.
In both regular commerce and e-commerce you need to find a way to attract customers to your place of business. In today’s market e-commerce and internet are essential. For the first quarter of 2008 retail sales totaled 1,024 billion. E-commerce made up 3.3 of total sales, or 33.8 billion. Internet sales were up 13% from same quarter in 2007. Internet is a growing business…
If you are not advertising or selling your products and services on the internet you are missing a wide range of customers. It is the power of e-commerce. If you want your business to succeed and grow why not use every means of advertising available to you. Conducting business online is no longer an option, but an absolute necessity for the success of your company.
